Expertise in Bespoke Training Facility Design

With more than three decades of expertise in designing and manufacturing bespoke training facilities, Ultimat possesses the knowledge and understanding to create training venues even in the most challenging environments.

To support this mission, we offer the following designs:

Officer Safety Training (Dojo)

An Officer Safety Training (OST) facility typically features a large, often multi-purpose matted room. Wall padding may be incorporated to enhance safety and minimize injury risks, depending on mat proximity to walls. Design considerations for such facilities include the following options and features.

 

We'll explore various factors, such as:

  • Battening or stud walls to cover over fixed structures or utilities that cannot be removed.

  • The type of mats best suited to the facility.

  • Denoted training zones or danger areas within the matted layout.

  • Discuss where wall padding is required.

  • Padded White Boards.

  • Doors that need to be padded.

  • Windows that need to be padded over or around.

  • Post/columns either on or close to the matted area that need to be padded.

  • The use of the Black Wall System for confined space training.

  • CED Training lanes and distance markers. (see CED training)

  • Discuss wall graphics such as safety instructions and safe words.

CED Ranges

The design of a CED training range can be either a standalone facility or combined within an Officer Safety Training (OST) facility. CED Boards are wall mounted and designed to hold CED Targets, whilst absorbing the impact of the barbs and providing a safe way to catch barbs that miss the targets

Confined Space Training

A Confined Space Training (CST) facility, utilizing our innovative Black Wall System™, revolutionizes police training by overcoming the limitations of traditional fixed structures. Our modular, lightweight, and easily reconfigurable system allows for the creation of diverse, realistic scenarios - from simple cells to complex building layouts. This versatile approach not only addresses budget constraints and space limitations but also ensures that training remains fresh and challenging. Constructed with durable, hygienic materials, the Black Wall System™ offers a cost-effective, low-maintenance solution that prepares officers for a wide range of real-world confined space challenges they may encounter in the field.

Key design elements and features of a CST facility include the following:

  • The use of our modular Black Wall System™ to create diverse confined space scenarios

  • Specialized safety mats designed for confined space training.

  • Designated entry and exit points within the confined space layouts.

  • Integration of removable obstacles and challenges within the confined spaces.

  • Placement of observation points for instructors and safety personnel.

  • Use of wall graphics for safety instructions and emergency procedures.

  • Adaptable floor plans to simulate various confined space types.

  • Non-lethal firearms training-compatible surfaces to allow for scenario-based training.

  • Reinforced surfaces to prevent ricochets and contain training rounds.

  • Graphic panels can be applied to create specific environments adding to the realism of the training. 

Custody Suites and Cells

Many law enforcement and prison facilities now have custody suits and cells used for training purposes. Providing a design for floor mats and wall padding to fits these rooms often requires many bespoke made pieces to fit these smaller, but often more complex rooms

  • Battening or stud walls to cover over fixed structures or utilities that cannot be removed.

  • The type of mats best suited to the facility.

  • Discuss where wall padding is required.

  • Padded White Boards.

  • Doors that need to be padded.

  • Windows that need to be padded over or around.

  • Fixed furniture may need to be padded.

  • Discuss wall graphics such as safety instructions and safe words.

First Aid Training

First aid training can often take place in either a purposely designed room, or often in various venues, buildings, types of room, where there is no permanent matted facility. Providing students with a matted area to carry out the first aid training improves concentration and engagement by removing the distracting discomfort caused by kneeling and lying on hard floors during training.
