The Van Cell layout has been created to allow officers to place an offender in to a van cell safely, without causing unnecessary injury to that person and also to themselves. The van cell layout is designed to allow various techniques including those using leg restraints to be practiced in a safe environment whilst allowing for instructors and other students to observe and instruct through observation windows.

This will help retain the covers appearance and durability. Strong detergents, solvent cleaners, polishes or patent chemical cleaners should not be used as they are unnecessary and may cause embrittlement and cracking of the material. In cases where disinfecting is necessary, the surfaces can be cleaned with a 5% solution of bleach in water. This should be used occasionally as excessive use may damage the coated fabric.
